Hey Justin, just tried this as part of my pull-up work out where i did 3 x 10 of wide grip pull ups & 2 x 10 of towel pull ups and my biceps haven't been this pumped since I stopped pumping iron and switched to bodyweight over a year ago. Great stuff. Looking forward to the next video.

These are great, Justin. Props to your wife on the nice camera work, too. Being a videographer myself I can appreciate that.

I learned a lot of similar stuff in Brad Johnson's book Bodyweight Exercises for Extraordinary Strength. Looking forward to the next video!

This post is simply awesome.

When doing the towel pullups in the video, you don't fully extend your arms. Is this for any particular purpose?

Thanks

Hey RCN,

There are a couple of reasons that I didn't fully extend on that video. First, I had cracked out several pull-ups, I was tired, and my form was suffering. Second, that room has a low ceiling.

Third, I don't usually fully extend my arm because I find that to feel far more natural. I ususally extend more than in that video. I just don't fully straighten my elbow. Throw your arms down naturally at your sides. Notice something? Your arms will bend slightly at the elbow. That's about as far down as I like to go.

Thanks for the explanation, that makes perfect sense. I'll try that.

I have been doing pullups fully extending my arms. In that position you only pull with your back at the beginning and make use of this inertia to finish the movement. That may be the reason why my back has grown powerful and big but not that much for the arms.

Interesting article you got here. I'd like to read a bit more concerning this matter. Thanx for giving this info.
